I.D.R. Objectives

The main objectives of IDR are:

  • The support and development of demographic research in Greece.
  • The   collection, processing and analysis of demographic, population and social data at national and regional levels as well as  the development of tools and initiatives in the field of open, web-based data with a view to their widespread use.
  • The documentation of demographic developments and prospects at the national and regional levels and the assessment of their impact.
  • The investigation of the two-way links between population and economic, social and territorial development and cohesion, the preparation of relevant applied studies with an emphasis on strategic foresight and the formulation of policy proposals and adaptation to demographic and population developments.
  • The creation of a Demographic Developments and Policies Observatory aimed at monitoring population/demographic developments at the national and regional level in Greece, as well as the critical presentation of policy measures.
  • The implementation of sample surveys on opinions, attitudes, views and perceptions about demography with a focus on population ageing and reproduction.
  • The provision of training services and the production of educational and information material on issues relating to demographic and population developments and their impact, raising awareness of civil society, and, in particular of the younger generations.
  • The organization of exhibitions, seminars, workshops and conferences with the aim, interalia, of educating and informing those responsible for the adoption and implementation of policy measures and informing civil society.
  • The consulting on survey methodology and, in particular, on methods, techniques and measures in population analyses.
  • The implementation of studies and surveys on regional development and spatial planning
