Institute of Demographic Research
Institute of Demographic Research - What for?
The underdevelopment of research and education in the field of demography and its multi-scientific nature, the combination of the results of applied demographic analysis with the achievements of related cognitive fields, automatically implies the underdevelopment of research in socio-political issues affecting our population developments. At the same time, there is a sharp increase in interest in our demographic events from politicians, the media and public opinion, as well as a number of scientists from different fields who, however, usually do not have the necessary resources to penetrate the demographic reality and approach to demographic phenomena..
It is obvious the necessity of the existence of a specialized organization like Institute of Demographic Research (I.D.R.) that gives a significant boost to demographic research while being able to offer important services both to demographic – and not only – policy makers that it is no longer possible not to they take into account the effects of demographic developments as well as on private sector bodies when planning and making decisions.
Through the conduct of analyses, research and studies, the production and dissemination of knowledge, the Institute aims to strengthen civil society and public debate on issues related to key demographic components and their impacts at the national and regional level.
I.D.R. Members
I.D.R. is also supported by a scientific Advisory Council as well as a committee of honorary members.
